Jenna Ortega & The Weeknd Star in Eerie Hurry Up Tomorrow Poster

A new eerie poster for Hurry Up Tomorrow has been unveiled, showing Abel Tesfaye (also known as The Weeknd) and Jenna Ortega’s upcoming musical psychological thriller.

Hurry Up Tomorrow is based on The Weeknd sixth studio album of the same name, which was released back in January. The film, directed by It Comes at Night and Waves filmmaker Trey Edward Shults, is set to premiere in theaters on May 16, 2025. It is co-written by Shults, The Weeknd, and Reza Fahim.

The Weeknd stars in the upcoming movie as himself. He is joined by the Scream and Wednesday star Ortega as Anima, Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan as Lee, country singer and actress Gabby Barrett as Isabella, and The D’Amelio Show’s Charli D’Amelio as a dancer.

While the trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow did not reveal anything much about what the film will entail, the logline states that the film will be about “a musician plagued by insomnia,” who is “pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.”

Earlier reports also noted that the upcoming movie shares similarities with the Kathy Bates and James Caan-starring Misery, following a deranged stranger stalking a famous artist.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Weeknd revealed that his character is an artist who is “on the verge of a mental breakdown,” with the director adding: “He meets this woman, and they go on this odyssey together. It’s a mix of psychological thriller and drama. I honestly feel like I’ve never seen a movie quite like it.”

Hurry Up Tomorrow marks The Weeknd’s latest foray into acting, following The Idol (which he co-created alongside Sam Levinson and Fahim) and Uncut Gems.

Hurry Up Tomorrow, which hails from Lionsgate, hits theaters on May 16.
