LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne has confirmed that a knee injury will keep her out of her final home meet. The senior athlete revealed on social media that she has an “avulsion fracture” in her kneecap, meaning she will not be able to compete when LSU takes on Georgia on Senior Night.

Dunne, a fifth-year senior, has been dealing with the injury for some time. Her last competition was on January 24. Dunne participated in the early meets this season but has been sidelined for some time because of a knee injury. Previously, LSU has been selective in sharing details about her condition. Earlier, head coach Jay Clark mentioned that her knee remained a concern. Now, Dunne’s latest update confirms she won’t have the chance to compete at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center one last time.

The gymnast expressed her disappointment, saying it “breaks my heart” to miss the meet. Despite the setback, Dunne has remained in good spirits. She recently served as the Grand Marshal of the Endymion Parade during Mardi Gras. (via The Spun)

LSU will finish the regular season against Auburn before heading into the SEC Championships on March 22. NCAA Regionals begin on April 2, however, it remains uncertain as of now if Dunne will recover in time to participate.
