Brittany Cartwright reacted to Jax Taylor’s recent admission of his 20-year struggle with cocaine addiction and substance issues.
In an exclusive statement to People, she said, “I’m glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on.” Cartwright expressed skepticism about his recovery, adding, “I pray that one day he completely knocks this addiction, but I’m skeptical. His behaviors are still alarming and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum.”
On the March 4 episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Taylor, 45, revealed that he has been struggling with substance issues, mainly with cocaine, for two decades. He stated he is now 83 days sober and acknowledged that alcohol played a role in his drug use, saying, “I can’t do cocaine without drinking. So I just gave up both.” Taylor said he does not believe he has an alcohol problem but recognized the connection between drinking and drug use.
Cartwright, 36, said Taylor’s addiction caused significant trauma to their family, stating, “I’ve tried desperately to help him without success.” She emphasized prioritizing their son, Cruz, adding, “Every day is still a challenge and very difficult. Jax has caused an enormous amount of damage, and I have very little trust in him at this point.”
She plans to discuss Taylor’s addiction further on her When Reality Hits podcast on March 7. The former couple’s relationship, documented on Vanderpump Rules, Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky, and The Valley, ended when Cartwright filed for divorce in 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. Taylor agreed to give her full custody of Cruz in September.
