However, aside from the intense storyline, the tribute to Reyes has captured viewers’ attention. Who was Kamar de los Reyes, and why does Daredevil: Born Again pay tribute to him?
Here is everything you need to know about it.
Daredevil: Born Again’s Kamar de los Reyes tribute explained
Kamar de los Reyes was a talented actor who sadly passed away on December 24, 2023, at 56, after battling cancer.
Ahead of Daredevil: Born Again’s second episode, fans witness a memorial title card offering tribute to the late actor. In the series, Reyes plays the role of Hector Ayala, aka the White Tiger, who is introduced in the second episode. He witnesses a man getting beaten up by two people at the subway station. He interrupts the fight and pushes one of the thugs in front of a moving train.
The other man, revealing himself as a police officer, pulls a gun on Hector. Now, Hector finds himself in a difficult situation, accused of causing the death of a civil servant.
Despite the advice of his partner, Kirsten McDuffie, Matt Murdock decides to represent Hector. Soon, Matt finds out with Cherry’s help that Hector is none other than the rebel White Tiger. He has been helping people and fighting for justice after the disappearance of Daredevil.
Additionally, lead actor Charlie Cox opened up on Hector’s story with Empire. He called his story, “so poignant for Matt Murdock and his world, because he’s having to defend someone who does what he does without revealing to the world that coincidence.” (via Dexerto)
For the unaware, Kamar de los Reyes is known for his work in One Life to Live and The Rookie.
