Patrick Schwarzenegger recently revealed in an interview that he has auditioned for three superhero characters to date. This includes the DC Universe’s Superman. However, actor David Corenswet ultimately secured the role. Here’s what Schwarzenegger said about his auditions.
Patrick Schwarzenegger on how his Superman audition for DCU went
Patrick Schwarzenegger, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, appeared on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast to discuss his career, family, and the struggles he has faced as an actor. At one point, the host directed the conversation toward the auditions that Schwarzenegger might have given for superhero movies and TV shows. One of the characters Schwarzenegger named was Superman from James Gunn’s upcoming DCU movie.
The Moxie actor made it clear that he didn’t get very far into the casting process. He stated that he didn’t get the chance to get into the costume, adding, “I don’t think I got any feedback. I think it was like, ‘No, not for you.'”
However, Patrick Schwarzenegger added that losing out on the Superman role was fine as he got a part on HBO’s hit show The White Lotus “right after.”
The other two superhero characters he auditioned for were John / Homelander in the Prime Video series The Boys and Luke Riordan / Golden Boy in The Boys spin-off series Gen V. While he didn’t land the former role, which went to Anthony Starr, he did get cast as the latter character.
31-year-old Schwarzenegger is the third child and oldest son of his parents. Through his mother, he is related to the Kennedy and the Shriver families. When Schwarzenegger was quite young, he made his feature debut in the 2006 sports comedy movie The Benchwarmers. Over the years, he has appeared in projects like Grown Ups 2, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, The Staircase, and American Sports Story.
In The White Lotus Season 3, Schwarzenegger portrays Saxon Ratliff, the son of Jason Isaacs’ Timothy Ratliff and Parker Posey’s Victoria Ratliff.
