Matthew Lawrence Claims Ryan Reynolds Was Difficult To Work With

Boy Meets World actor Matthew Lawrence recently shared how the makers of the 2000 movie Boltneck faced difficulties while working with Ryan Reynolds. Lawrence and the Deadpool & Wolverine actor co-starred in the horror comedy, which didn’t have much success at the box office. Here is what Lawrence said about Reynolds’ antics while filming Boltneck.

Matthew Lawrence talks about Ryan Reynolds’ behavior on Boltneck’s set

Matthew Lawrence recently appeared on the Brotherly Love podcast. There he recalled working with Ryan Reynolds on the Mitch Marcus directorial, Boltneck.

As he was discussing the current Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni feud, Lawrence shifted his focus to Reynolds. He described him as a “total schlub” in his early days. He went on and said, “The production team was having a really hard time with Ryan. This is young Ryan.”

Lawrence mentioned that he was familiar with working on a film set considering his previous experiences. However, Reynolds “wasn’t dialed in” as he was a newcomer. Looking back at the actor’s actions on the Boltneck set, Lawrence stated, “He’d walk out, just wanted to kind of do his thing. And the producers were getting really upset, and they even told them that, ‘Ryan, this is a bad Jim Carrey impersonation. This is not what we hired you to do. You can’t impersonate someone. You got to do your own thing.'” On the other hand, Reynolds would get “upset” with the instructions and reply, “I’m doing my thing.”

Furthermore, Matthew Lawrence revealed that the producers blamed the failure of Boltneck on Ryan Reynolds. The actor conveyed that the producers seemingly referred to Reynolds as a “big conflict” on set. He further revealed that they said, “To be honest, I’m not even mad at Ryan in the sense that he actually stayed true to who he is authentically because he was trying to Deadpool it!”
