Eddie Redmayne, Tessa Thompson, & More to Star in Charlie Kaufman Movie Later the War

Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), Tessa Thompson (Dear White People), and Patsy Ferran (A Streetcar Named Desire play) have officially joined the upcoming film adaptation of Later the War, based on author Iddo Gefen’s short story Debby’s Dream House. The project hails from Oscar-winning filmmaker Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).

The original story centers around “a man who manufactures dreams for people but ultimately begins creating nightmares for them.” At the moment, further details about the upcoming movie’s plot and characters are still currently under wraps.

Who is involved in Later the War?

Later the War will be written and directed by Kaufman, which serves as his feature-length directorial comeback after 2021’s Netflix thriller movie I’m Thinking of Ending Things. The film will be produced by Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum for Waypoint Entertainment, along with Sarah Green for Brace Cove Productions and Steven Demmler. Suraj Maraboyina’s 131 Pictures is also financing the project.

Redmayne was most recently seen in the Peacock series The Day of the Jackal, where he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. In addition to reprising his titular role in The Day of the Jackal Season 2, he will also next be seen in the conspiracy thriller movie Panic Carefully with Julia Roberts and Elizabeth. Meanwhile, Thompson has several upcoming projects lined up, including the Netflix crime drama miniseries His & Hers with Jon Bernthal. She’s also attached to star in Nia DaCosta’s drama movie Hedda and in the comedy movie The Invite with Amy Adams and her Avengers: Endgame co-star Paul Rudd.
