Shakira Postpones Colombia Concert Over Stage Safety Issue

Shakira recently canceled her February 24th concert at Medellin, Colombia. This show was part of her ongoing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. She postponed it to a yet-to-be-confirmed date. This development has shocked fans who were excited about the concert. They are now curious about its cancelation and postponement. This cancelation comes one week after a previous concert cancelation in Lima, Peru, which was caused by a health issue.

Here are all the details on Shakira’s Colombia concert cancellation.

Why did Shakira postpone Colombia concert?

Shakira postponed the Colombia concert because of a safety issue, which was the damage to the stage’s roof installed by the local production crew. This was confirmed in a statement from concert promoter Paramo Presenta, translated from Spanish. It read:

“During the assembly process of the show scheduled for February 24, the roof of the stage installed by the local production suffered damage that puts at risk the safety of the artist, her staff and, most importantly, that of the audience.”

Additionally, the promoter assured that they were working with Shakira and her team to reschedule the date for the Medellin concert. “We understand that this decision may be annoying for the public who were anxiously awaiting the show. But the most important thing is everyone’s safety,” they added.

Shakira also addressed the cancelation on her social media. “My people from Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to,” she wrote on X.

Moreover, she spoke of how her children were excited to explore Medellin. The El Dorado artist confirmed via Instagram that her two children were with her in Colombia.

Furthermore, Shakira apologized for the cancelation and stressed that the situation was “out of [her] hands.” The singer then promised to set a new date for the Medellin concert and thanked fans for their support.

The North American leg of Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour is expected to commence on May 13, 2025. It will start at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will conclude on June 30 at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California.
