The Marvel Nova series may not be dead yet.
In March 2024, Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum confirmed that a long-awaited Nova project was in “really early development.” Then, in December 2024, it was revealed that Edward Allen Bernero had been hired as the MCU Nova series’ writer and showrunner.
Earlier this week, however, Deadline reported that development on Nova was being paused as it was no longer a priority for the studio.
“Sources stressed to Deadline that these projects were never officially greenlit, and may still come to fruition at some point,” the article reads. “The studio has simply shifted its priorities at the moment.”
What is the most recent update on Marvel’s Nova series?
Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider is now reporting that the Nova series will likely still come to fruition at some point.
“My sources stress that Ed Bernero’s Nova series is likely to happen, but not until next year,” Sneider reported.
Sneider reported that the show could “possibly” star Brandon Sklenar, who has been rumored to be circling the Richard Rider role for some time.
Sklenar addressed the rumors earlier this month when speaking to The Playlist, saying, “I think I was supposed to meet with [Marvel Studios/Marvel Television] at some point here…with [Kevin] Feige. We’ll see that would be cool.”
Sklenar is known for playing Brent in 2022’s Emily the Criminal and Atlas Corrigan in 2024’s It Ends with Us. He also recently played Billy in 2025’s Green and Gold and will soon be seen portraying a character named Henry in Blumhouse Productions’ Drop movie. Additionally, he plays Spencer Dutton in 1923 and has appeared in episodes of New Girl, Westworld, and Walker: Independence, among other titles.
There have been no official announcements or confirmations given by Marvel Studios regarding the Nova series at this time.
