Severance Breaks Apple TV+ Records, Becomes Most-Watched Show

Severance has shattered records on Apple TV+ and become the most-watched series on the platform, following the release of its Season 2. Adam Scott leads the show as Mark Scout, alongside Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, John Turturro, and Michael Chernus. Since its debut, the show’s sophomore season has become a favorite watch among both critics and fans.

Severance becomes Apple TV+’s most watched series with Season 2

Created by Dan Erickson, Severance has emerged as the most-watched series in the history of Apple TV+. The show made a comeback with its Season 2 on January 17, 2025.

To celebrate the moment, the streaming giant posted a short clip on Instagram. It featured the message, “Severance is the number one series in Apple TV+ history.” According to a report by Deadline, Severance Season 2 debuted on Nielsen’s Top 10 Originals chart at the 4th position within three days of its release.

Additionally, the numbers revealed by Apple TV+ depict that the thriller series clocked a whopping 589 million minutes for all its episodes. The outlet further disclosed that the numbers are expected to rise with the release of the remaining episodes.

Following Season 2’s release, the streaming platform even witnessed a 126 percent growth in subscribers in January 2025. Moreover, it surpassed one of the most popular shows on the platform, Ted Lasso, in view minutes.

Additionally, Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s head of programming, spoke about the second season’s success. He said, “Severance has proven to be an extraordinary success and a cultural phenomenon. The series has become an obsession for audiences all over the world and we can’t wait for people to continue to experience all the masterful twists and turns as the rest of the season unfolds.”

Ben Stiller, who directed both seasons of Severance, also expressed gratitude toward the fans. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Thank you everyone who waited for season 2 and those who have just discovered the show. Your incredible connection and dedication to the characters and details has been so wonderful to share. We all appreciate it so much.”
