Rihanna shares her thoughts about A$AP Rocky’s trial on Instagram

Rihanna publicly expressed her relief and gratitude following ASAP Rocky’s acquittal in his felony assault trial. Shortly after a jury reached its verdict on February 18, the singer took to Instagram stories to share her reaction.

She wrote, “The Glory belongs to God and God alone,” followed by, “THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!” (via People). Rocky had been facing serious charges from a November 2021 incident in which he was accused of firing a semi-automatic handgun at A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli. A conviction could have resulted in a prison sentence of up to 24 years.

Following his acquittal at Los Angeles’ Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Rocky expressed gratitude to the jury, thanking them for “making the right decision.” He also embraced his family, including Rihanna. Speaking to the media afterward, A$AP Rocky said, “I gotta thank God first…This is crazy right now. This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years, but I’m thankful, nonetheless.” He later posted a brief message on X, formerly Twitter, warning, “DON’T BE DUMB.”

Rihanna had been a visible supporter throughout the case, even bringing their sons, RZA and Riot, to some hearings. Prosecutors had criticized her presence, arguing that Rocky’s celebrity status should not influence the proceedings. However, the judge ruled that her attendance shouldn’t be a factor in the case.

Rocky had previously rejected a plea deal, opting for a jury trial instead. His defense maintained that the firearm in question was a “prop gun” and that Relli had fabricated the allegations for financial gain.
