She shared in a Harper’s Bazaar interview, “I was thinking, ‘What am I going to tell my parents? What’s going to happen to his career?’ I was very scared. I was bawling. But [LeBron] said, ‘It’s not going to slow me down, and it’s not going to slow you down. We’re going to keep doing what we have to do'” (via MARCA).

The duo met when Savannah was still a sophomore in high school. The 40-year-old NBA star had asked for her number from a friend. Ultimately, it was Savannah who contacted him first. Within their initial stage of dating, Savannah James had felt the spark between them.

Reminiscing about the beginning of their relationship in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she said, “I knew he loved me when I left my leftovers from dinner in his car. I’d totally forgotten about them, and he brought them to me. I think he just wanted another excuse to come and see me” (via PEOPLE).

Fast forward to 2025, the couple have spent more than two decades lifting each other up. In a recent interview, LeBron talked about his wife’s desire for him to finally “slow down” and spend more time with the family. Reflecting on his mega-successful career, LeBron once said, “It’s always been family over everything. I lost a lot of time because of this league” (via Reuters).
