Kim Shin Young has apologized to PLAVE for her comments about the virtual idol group during her radio show. Her remarks sparked a wave of criticism, particularly from PLAVE’s dedicated fanbase. In response to the growing controversy, the popular DJ has issued a public apology.

What did Kim Shin Young say about PLAVE?

While discussing PLAVE on MBC FM4U’s Noon Song of Hope, Kim Shin Young said the group “can’t appear” on the show. “I think I’d be really embarrassed if Plave stars in the show because I would have to pretend I could see the artists when, in reality, I wouldn’t see anyone in the studio” (via Korea JoongAng Daily). Her remarks sparked a backlash, with many fans accusing her of disrespecting the group and demanding her resignation.

Young has publicly apologized after facing criticism for her comments about the group on the show. She offered a heartfelt apology on air, saying, “Yesterday on ‘Noon Song of Hope,’ I made comments about PLAVE, but they were remarks that failed to understand the current cultural trends” (via Soompi).

The comedian said she was “not only ignorant but also rude.” Young further explained that while she had considered posting an apology on social media, she felt it was more appropriate to apologize personally during her radio broadcast.

She then played PLAVE’s song “Wait for You” on the show. PLAVE, a virtual boy band with real individuals behind the characters, has gained considerable commercial success. Some of their most notable tracks include “Dash,” “Island,” “From,” and many more.
