Delta Plane Turns Upside Down After Crash at Toronto Pearson Airport

A Delta Airlines plane was involved in a crash after it flipped recently at the Toronto Pearson Airport. This has led to an investigation, according to the FAA. The incident stirred chaos as videos of the plane turned upside down circulated widely on the internet. Here are all the details regarding the accident shared by the officials and how the Delta plane flipped upon landing.

What happened to the Delta plane that flipped?

A Delta Airlines flight flipped while landing at the Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada on Monday, February 17, 2025. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released a statement. They confirmed that the accident took place at 2:45 p.m. local time with a total of 80 people (76 passengers and 4 crew members) on board flight number 4819.

The outlet further reported that 18 passengers out of 80 faced injuries upon the crash landing of the Delta Airlines plane, as per Todd Aitken, the fire chief of Toronto Pearson Airport. He conveyed to the public, “We can now confirm that 18 injured passengers have been transported to the local area hospitals. We had one additional passenger recently transported to a hospital.” Additionally, it was also stated that three serious injuries were reported by the paramedics from the scene. The injured were a child, a woman in her 40s, and a man in his 60s in critical condition.

The flight that took off from Minneapolis at 11:47 AM and was supervised by Endeavor Air made the landing during the snowy conditions. However, Aitken denied them being the cause of the crash. He asserted that the runway “was dry and there were no cross-wind conditions.”

In the videos circulating online, passengers can be seen exiting the upside-down plane after impact as first responders arrived at the scene to provide immediate assistance.

The CEO of Delta, Ed Bastian spoke to NBC News. He said, “The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today’s incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport. I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site.”

Furthermore, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) posted on social media. Their statement read that they are “deploying a team to investigate an aircraft accident at Toronto / Lester B. Pearson International Airport, ON. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Toronto Pearson Airport released a statement. It confirmed that “departures and arrivals have resumed at Toronto Pearson as of 5 p.m.”
