Actor Brandon Sklenar recently addressed the rumors surrounding his potential appearance in Marvel’s Nova series and expressed interest in portraying Batman in The Brave and the Bold. The It Ends With Us star is rumored to be in Marvel’s radar for the the role of Richard Ryder in the upcoming Nova series. Meanwhile, casting rumors about DCU’s upcoming Batman film have been going on ever since the movie was announced back in 2023.
Brandon Sklenar reflects on Batman and Nova rumors
Rumors began circulating in late January 2025 that Marvel was eyeing Brandon Sklenar to play Richard Rider’s version of Nova in the untitled MCU Nova series. In a recent interview with The Playlist, Sklenar stated that while he had heard about the rumors, it was “news” to him.
He said, “I think I was supposed to meet with [Marvel Studios/Marvel Television] at some point here…with [Kevin] Feige. We’ll see that would be cool.” The Emily the Criminal actor then spoke about playing Batman in James Gunn’s The Brave and the Bold.
“I’ve seen a bunch of fan-casting for this Batman thing and that’s very interesting to me, I love Batman,” Sklenar said. “That would be a dream, for sure. But we’ll see what happens, I’m built for it.” He added, “It would have to be the right thing at the right time.”
The movie will reportedly shed light on the Bat-Family and will include Damian Wayne, Bruce’s biological son. In June 2023, The Flash director Andy Muschietti is expected to helm the project The feature will reportedly be an adaptation of Grant Morrison’s 2006 to 2013 tenure on the namesake series of DC Comics.
Meanwhile, the untitled Nova series has Third Watch co-creator Ed Bernero as writer and showrunner. In July 2024, Marvel boss Kevin Feige stated that the series would happen in the next three to four years.
