Andra Day has joined the cast of Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On?
Is This Thing On? is a new, forthcoming movie from Cooper, this being his third feature film directorial effort following 2018’s A Star Is Born and 2023’s Maestro. Cooper will play a supporting role in the movie, which also stars Will Arnett, Sean Hayes, and Laura Dern.
Day has also now joined the cast of Is This Thing On?, per Variety. Day is known for playing Billie Holiday in 2021’s The United States vs. Billie Holiday, which earned her a Best Actress Academy Award nomination. She’s also starred in 2017’s Marshall, 2024’s Exhibiting Forgiveness, and 2024’s The Deliverance, while she voiced Sweet Tea in 2017’s Cars 3.
Additionally, Day will soon be seen playing Athena in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, which does not yet have a premiere date.
What is the logline for Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On?
Is This Thing On? focuses on a middle-aged character, Alex, played by Arnett, who is facing an impending divorce from his wife, Tess, played by Dern.
“As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex seeks new purpose in the New York comedy scene while Tess confronts the sacrifices she made for their family — forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form,” the logline reads.
The film is written by Arnett and Mark Chappell. Arnett and Cooper also produce the movie alongside Weston Middleton and Kris Thykier, while John Bishop serves as an executive producer.
Cooper recently said on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show that he’ll additionally be a B camera operator on Is This Thing On?
“Anybody that’s ever made a movie knows that the camera operator and the dolly grip and the sound mixer and the first AD, these are key positions that are as important as the actors or anybody else,” Cooper said.
A release date for Is This Thing On? has not yet been announced.
