Jon Hurwitz recently talked about Daniel LaRusso’s new outfit in Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3 and the significance of the wardrobe change.
The final part of the martial arts drama debuted on Netflix on February 13, 2025. Starring Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, and Tanner Buchanan, among others, Cobra Kai is one of the most popular series to air on the platform.
Jon Hurwitz explains Daniel’s outfit change in Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3
The co-creator of Cobra Kai, Jon Hurwitz, and actor Ralph Macchio were present for a conversation with Tudum and reflected on Daniel LaRusso’s outfit change.
In the finale of the series, viewers witnessed Daniel wearing a Cobra Kai gi. The scene stirred discussions among fans as Daniel is a firm believer in Miyagi-Do’s philosophy and techniques. While speaking to Tudum, Hurwitz disclosed that the change in Daniel’s outfit in Cobra Kai Season 6 was a symbol of his character growth.
He said, “This was this joint victory between Johnny and Daniel: Daniel [has] finally come to the realization that it’s OK not to be Miyagi-Do all the time, that Johnny[’s beliefs] had some value … and Johnny recogniz[es] Daniel’s beliefs were valuable as well.” Hurwitz further added that the wardrobe alteration also showcased how Daniel and Johnny “with very different philosophies in life can come together as one and win the day.”
Macchio also commented on the outfit change and stated his loyalty to Miyagi-Do. He conveyed, “I would not relinquish my Miyagi-Do headband. There was no negotiating. … I’m standing in solidarity [with] my friend, but this is who I am.”
Upon its release, Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3 has earned praise from critics and fans alike, and the season currently holds an 88% Certified Fresh rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
