Searchlight Pictures has shared the official O’Dessa trailer for the upcoming epic rock opera, which will be led by Stranger Things star Sadie Sink. The film will have its world premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival. It will then be followed by its streaming debut on March 13 on Hulu.
“Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the film is an original rock opera about a farm girl on an epic quest to recover a cherished family heirloom,” reads the official synopsis. “Her journey leads her to a strange and dangerous city where she meets her one true love – but in order to save his soul, she must put the power of destiny and song to the ultimate test.”

What happens in the O’Dessa trailer?
The video highlights the movie’s eccentric setting, and stunning musical numbers, featuring Sink as a farm girl who embarks on a mission to retrieve a missing heirloom. Besides Sink, the cast also includes Kevin Harrison Jr. as Euri Dervish, Regina Hall as Neon Dion, Murray Bartlett as Plutonovich, Mark Boone Junior as Father Walt, Pokey LaFarge as Vergil, Marinko Prga as Vulturo, and more.

O’Dessa is written and directed by Geremy Jasper (Patti Cake$), with Jasper and Jason Binnick producing and writing 16 original songs. It is produced by Michael Gottwald, Noah Stahl, and Rodrigo Teixeira, with Taylor Friedman and Cornelia Burleigh overseeing the project for Searchlight. Executive producers are Jonathan Montepare, Dan Janvey, and Lourenço Sant’Anna.
