More information about the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal is here, with World of Reel reporting that the film officially has a name.
What is the name of M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie?
According to their latest report, World of Reel notes that the film is titled Remain and is set to start production in August later this year. World of Reel also reported that Shyamalan will be working with a new Director of Photography on the project, Adolpho Veloso, who worked on the upcoming Train Dreams.
The project will be a “supernatural romantic thriller” based on an original story by both Shyamalan and author Nicholas Sparks who is best known for works including The Notebook, Dear John, The Last Song, and more, many of which have also been turned into movies.
According to a report from Deadline on the movie, Shyamalan and Sparks are co-creating the story, with Shyamalan writing a screenplay and Sparks writing a novel based on the same original story. It’s unclear exactly what the film will be about, however, as any plot details or future casting information remains a mystery for now.
Gyllenhaal’s latest movie was 2024’s Road House, a remake of the 1989 action film for Amazon, with his next project set to be Guy Ritchie’s upcoming action thriller In the Grey, in which he’ll star alongside Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Rosamund Pike, and more. Jake will also star in an upcoming monster movie titled The Bride!, which is directed by his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and will also star Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and many more.
For Shyamalan, it’ll be his next movie following 2024’s Trap, which starred Josh Hartnett and Ariel Donoghue, as well as his daughter, Saleka Night Shyamalan, who provided original music for the film. Before that, he released a film in 2023, the apocalyptic psychological horror Knock at the Cabin, starring Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Kristen Cui, Abby Quinn, and Rupert Grint.
