However, the meaning of the trend shifted to having a romantic angle as many people began using the trend as a way to post about their partners and show their fun side. This shift in the trend appeared to start after user @paiz2610 posted a clip of their partner rolling over a ball, showcasing his unserious side, and wrote, “Realizing I changed my emergency contact from my mom to this man.” The hugely popular video has managed to generate close to 30 million views on TikTok so far.
After getting inspired by this clip, other users went on to post videos of their emergency contacts to display their fun side and goofiness.
