Prime Video’s satirical superhero series The Boys will end after the fifth and final season, but it has already established a lasting legacy for itself, which includes several spin-offs. One of them, Gen V, aired its inaugural season between September and November 2023 and wrapped production for Season 2 later. As anticipation builds, people are wondering whether various characters from the main series will appear in the upcoming season of the spin-off. In a new interview, Jessie T. Usher, who plays Reggie Franklin/A-Train in The Boys, reflected on whether fans would get to see his character in Gen V Season 2.
Jessie T. Usher plays coy on A-Train’s return in Gen V Season 2 before The Boys
Usher didn’t provide a direct answer when he was asked by The Direct at the 2025 Saturn Awards whether A-Train would be part of Gen V Season 2. Notably, A-Train made a cameo appearance in the series premiere of the series, titled God U.
“I mean, he can help people out in a lot of the universe, you know what I mean? And it’s just a matter of if they want to use him or not,” the Level Up actor said. “I feel like A-Train as a tool is available in a lot of ways. So I hope that they get creative, you know what I mean, in using the character. But I’m a fan too, I just want to see how it’s gonna play out,” he added.
While it may not be the straightforward answer that fans are hoping for, it keeps the hope alive. Set in the same fictional universe as The Boys, Gen V revolves around a group of young adult superheroes trying to figure out their paths as superheroes.
In the same interview, Usher also spoke about his character’s journey in The Boys and how it impacted him. He apparently thought that A-Train would be killed off in Season 2, so the longevity of the character was a “nice surprise.” He went on to express his gratitude to Eric Kripke and the writer’s room for coming up “with a plan that works to sort of get him out of that slump.”
The Boys Season 5 premieres sometime in 2026. Meanwhile, Gen V Season 2 might debut sometime in 2025.
