Nate Moore, Marvel Studios producer, recently confirmed that Black Panther 3 is in development, with a release date set after Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). Moore talked about the early talks with director Ryan Coogler and shared updates on the film’s timeline, Marvel’s upcoming projects, and his departure from the studio.
Black Panther 3’s release date would be after Avengers 6, Nate Moore confirms
In an interview with Variety, Moore stated, “We’ve had early talks with [Ryan Coogler], he’s finishing up Sinners which is gonna be an amazing film, and then we’ll get into it after that. But it won’t be before Avengers, that’s our next big thing.” Moore, exiting Marvel in mid-March, will still produce the film.
Marvel Studios has several untitled 2027-2028 release slots, where Black Panther 3 could fit. Moore added, “Obviously, this year we have Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four, all on the road to Avengers. But we’ll get back to Wakanda as soon as we can.” Coogler, currently working on Sinners with Michael B. Jordan for an April release, will then focus on Black Panther 3. Moore noted in 2022 that there were potential ideas or concepts that they had floated around for the third film.
Denzel Washington had earlier confirmed that Coogler is working on Black Panther 3 and also writing a part for the Fences actor. However, later he said, “Ryan’s a genius. I called him and apologized for talking about the movie, and right there sitting with him was his beautiful wife” (via Variety). Notably, Coogler did not intend to share Washington’s involvement publicly at the time.
Before the film, Coogler will premiere Eyes of Wakanda, an animated series exploring Wakandan warriors’ history, on Disney+ on August 6. He is one of the executive producers of the upcoming show.
Both Black Panther films are streaming on Disney+.
