In the final moments of the Royal Rumble, Jey Uso battled John Cena for the victory. He ultimately eliminated Cena, claiming his first-ever Royal Rumble win. The following week on WWE RAW, an emotional Jey addressed the WWE Universe, reflecting on his career-defining moment.
Before he could say much, World Heavyweight Champion Gunther interrupted him. The Ring General dismissed Jey Uso as an unworthy challenger, stating that facing him didn’t appeal to him. He went further, saying Jey couldn’t even lace his boots.
The champion also pointed out that defeating John Cena, CM Punk, or Roman Reigns would have elevated his legacy, but facing Jey Uso offered no such prestige. He made it clear to Jey that he had no interest in facing him at WrestleMania 41.
On the latest edition of WWE RAW, Jey Uso and Gunther brawled in the ring. Fired up, Uso officially challenged The Ring General for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Jey and Gunther have faced each other. The Ring General has defeated him multiple times in the past.
The most recent victory came at Saturday Night’s Main Event, just one week before Uso’s Royal Rumble win. Despite Jey’s recent loss against Gunther, reports have revealed that WWE had been planning this WrestleMania 41 clash for months.

Fightful Select (behind a paywall) reports that WWE planned Jey Uso’s Royal Rumble win and his match against Gunther at WrestleMania 41 well in advance. The promotion reportedly decided on the matchup even before their match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Jey is now determined to defeat Gunther at WrestleMania 41. It will be interesting to see if he can accomplish the unthinkable in Las Vegas this April.
