Anyone But You Director Making Raunchy Comedy Movie Titled One Night Only for Universal

Anyone But You director Will Gluck has found his next project: One Night Only.

Anyone But You was released in United States theaters in December 2023 by Sony Pictures Releasing. The film, which is loosely based on William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, turned out to be a massive hit as it made around $220 million at the worldwide box office.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Gluck’s next directorial project has been acquired by Universal Pictures. The new movie is titled One Night Only and features a screenplay written by Travis Braun.

What do we know about Will Gluck’s One Night Only movie?

“One Night tells of two strangers, a man and a woman, who scramble to find someone to sleep with on the one night of the year when premarital sex is legal in their society,” the description for the movie reads.

No casting information has been announced at this time. A release date has not yet been set.

The Hollywood Reporter’s article notes that Braun’s “script topped the 2024 Black List, the annual ranking of most liked unproduced screenplays that was unveiled in December.” Braun also topped the 2023 Black List with Bad Boy, making him the first writer ever to reach the number one spot two years in a row. It was recently announced that Bad Boy, which is about a serial killer’s dog, will star Ke Huy Quan and Lili Reinhart.

Gluck will produce One Night Only through his Olive Bridge Entertainment banner. Olive Bridge’s Jacqueline Monetta will also serve as a producer.

Prior to Anyone But You, Gluck made his feature film directorial debut in 2009 with Fired Up! He followed that with 2020’s Easy A, 2011’s Friends with Benefits, 2014’s Annie, 2018’s Peter Rabbit, and 2021’s Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. Gluck also worked on the screenplays for all of those movies except for Easy A.
