In an unexpected turn of events, ABC has decided not to premiere a new season of The Bachelorette this summer, causing fans to wonder if the series has been canceled. The reality dating show debuted in 2003 and has spawned 21 installments since. The female-led spin-off of The Bachelor revolves around a single woman, who attempts to find true love from a batch of around 25 male suitors. As such, the news of The Bachelorette getting shifted to the back burner has left fans in a worrisome state.

Notably, The Bachelorette went on a similar hiatus in 2006 and 2007. Nevertheless, the show made a triumphant return the very next year, much to the joy of its viewers.
ABC also halted production on Bachelor in Paradise last year, with The Golden Bachelorette taking its summer slot. However, the former was ultimately renewed for a tenth season and will make its small-screen comeback this year.
The Disney-owned ABC seems to follow such a pattern with all The Bachelor entities. Therefore, fans can assume that The Bachelorette has not been canceled until further notice from the network.
The series usually begins filming at this time of the year. Moreover, the past three seasons of The Bachelorette have received a July premiere date. Considering that production on Season 22 is currently on hold, a new edition of the reality series is unlikely to follow the release schedule of its recent predecessors.
