Kanye West lost his talent agent, Daniel McCartney, after posting antisemitic rants on X (formerly Twitter). McCartney announced the decision on Instagram, citing West’s “harmful and hateful remarks.” This fallout follows West’s history of controversial statements, which previously cost him major brand deals.
Let’s break down what led to McCartney’s decision, West’s latest remarks, and the broader consequences of his actions.
Kanye West dropped by talent agent Daniel McCartney
Talent agent Daniel McCartney dropped Kanye West following a series of the rapper’s antisemitic remarks.
On Monday, February 10, McCartney, who works at the agency 33&West, announced the decision in an Instagram Stories post. “Effective immediately, I’m no longer representing YE (F/K/A Kanye West) due to his harmful and hateful remarks that myself nor 33 & West can stand for,” McCartney wrote. He concluded the post with “peace and love to all.” (via People)
This announcement came days after West shared multiple slur-ridden posts on X on February 6. In the posts, he made controversial statements praising Adolf Hitler while also defending Sean “Diddy” Combs. Notably, Diddy is in jail, waiting for a trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges, scheduled for May 2025.
West also referenced Elon Musk, mentioning the one-armed salute Musk gave at Donald Trump’s inauguration which also sparked a controversy. Musk later responded, “The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”
West further escalated his rhetoric by dismissing antisemitism as “just some bulls— Jewish people made up” and stated, “[I’m] never apologizing for my Jewish comments.” Variety reported on February 10 that X deactivated West’s account following this controversy. The page now reads, “This account doesn’t exist,” though it remains unclear whether West deleted his account or if X removed him.
This is not the first time West has faced repercussions for antisemitic statements. In 2022, he was previously banned from the same social media platform for such remarks, which also led to the loss of his major brand partnerships with Adidas, Gap, and others.
