The Phoenician Scheme Release Date Set for Wes Anderson Espionage Dramedy

Focus Features has officially announced The Phoenician Scheme release date, revealing when the highly anticipated Wes Anderson movie is set to come out.

When is The Phoenician Scheme release date?

According to Focus Features, The Phoenician Scheme is set for a limited release on May 30, 2025, with a wide release taking place a week later, on June 6, 2025. The film will be distributed by Focus Features domestically, with Universal Pictures International handling international distribution for the project.

The Phoenician Scheme will be written and directed by Anderson, with Roman Coppola also serving as a co-writer. Little is known about the film as of now, but Focus Features says it will focus on “the story of a family and a family business,” with rumors circulating that the project will be an espionage comedy.

Much like other Wes Anderson projects, The Phoenician Scheme’s cast is star-studded. The project is led by Benicio del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe; Mia Threapleton as Sister Liesl, his daughter/a nun; and Michael Cera as Bjorn Lund, their tutor. Also appearing in the film are Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Richard Ayoade, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Anderson is a legend in the world of filmmaking and is considered one of the few auteurs in the world of Hollywood, known for his very distinct visual and narrative styles. His film history includes projects like The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, and Asteroid City, among others. Anderson’s films have also garnered 16 Academy Award nominations and five wins across his career.
