Fans Think Kendrick Lamar Wore ‘A’ Chain to Diss Drake at Super Bowl 2025

Everything about rapper Kendrick Lamar‘s performance during the halftime show at Super Bowl 2025 has garnered significant attention. Some fans believe that the lowercase “A” pendant on the chain Lamar wore during the performance originated from his popular single Not Like Us, a diss track allegedly aimed at hip-hop artist Drake.

Kendrick Lamar performed several of his biggest hits during the halftime show at the 2025 Super Bowl, held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Hey Now artist wore flare jeans and a jacket with the word “Gloria” inscribed on the front. He also sported a hat with a diamond Rahaminov brooch and a chain featuring a prominent lowercase “A” pendant.

Some fans speculate that the “A” chain references Not Like Us, particularly a lyric that says, “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor.” Lamar released Not Like Us in 2024 through Interscope Records, and the song achieved massive success, earning widespread critical acclaim.

The track swept several Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Rap Song. Lamar performed it at the Super Bowl, where tennis icon Serena Williams, rumored to be Drake’s former girlfriend, danced to it during the halftime show.

In January 2025, Drake filed a lawsuit against his record label, Universal Music Group, alleging that they backed the release and promotion of Not Like Us (via PEOPLE).

Beyond its possible reference to Not Like Us, the “A” chain may also be a nod to Lamar’s multimedia communications company, pgLang. Founded in 2020 by Lamar and Dave Free, pgLang features a lowercase “A” in its logo, which closely resembles the pendant on Lamar’s chain at the Super Bowl. Additionally, the back of Lamar’s jacket had the company’s name imprinted on it.
