The star called on the X owner to ban West from the platform, warning that his comments might fuel real-world violence. He wrote on Instagram, “We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk.”
Schwimmer, who is Jewish, pointed out that West’s 32.7 million followers on X is “twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence.” He condemned the rapper’s latest outburst, stating that openly identifying as a Nazi and spreading hateful speech should be grounds for removal.
West has made a series of inflammatory posts, including praise for Adolf Hitler, designs featuring a swastika, and controversial remarks about slavery. His recent comments come after his wife, Bianca Censori, made headlines for her appearance at the Grammy Awards, which sparked further media attention.
Schwimmer pointed out that in the past, such hateful speech led to social media bans. In 2022, West was removed from X for close to eight months after posting a swastika. However, since Musk relaxed content moderation, he has been reinstated. Schwimmer also expressed disappointment over the lack of widespread outrage compared to previous incidents.
