A new trailer for the Thunderbolts* was released online, offering new footage of the eponymous team and their quirky and unique dynamic. It also gave fans a glimpse at Lewis Pullman’s Sentry and his dark personality, The Void. In the new trailer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina mentions in a courtroom that the Avengers are not coming. It appears that Captain Marvel, Star-Lord, Shang-Chi, Hulk, and other heroes are on Earth. They are likely doing something of their own, and Sentry/The Void’s attack happens suddenly, catching many off guard. Moreover, Sam Wilson’s Captain America is also likely working behind the scenes to reassemble the team.
As such, Bucky Barnes and the Thunderbolts* step up and attempt to take down the powerful being. It’s possible that the Thunderbolts* would eventually be referred to as the Dark Avengers, a shift that may be reflected in the movie’s actual final title being revealed when the asterisk is finally taken off.
Ultimately, the Avengers will return to theaters in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. These films are scheduled for a 2026 and 2027 release, respectively.
