Did Tyler die at the end of The Menu?

Yes, Tyler dies at the end of The Menu.

The film takes a horrifying turn when Chef Julian Slowik discloses his real intentions in front of the guests. He reveals that he plans to kill every guest at the restaurant out of his frustration of never being appreciated for his skills. He feels that the art of cooking has been shattered by the superficial nature of the elite guests.

In the end, it is revealed that Tyler, the wannabe chef was aware of Julian’s plans since the beginning as the latter is his idol. On the other hand, Margot is revealed to be an escort hired by him. Soon, Slowik plans to teach Tyler a lesson by making him prepare the final meal.

When Julian challenges Tyler to prepare a dish, the self-proclaimed food connoisseur quickly proves he lacks actual skill. His dish turns out to be inedible, and Julian tells him, ”You are why the mystery has been drained from our art.” Further, Chef whispers something into Tyler’s ears, which might be to kill himself out of embarrassment. In the next scene, Tyler takes off his tie, and his body is found hanging in the backroom.

Julian keeps Margot alive as does not see her as the elite who disrespects his art. She tries to escape and calls a radio for help. Chef realizes that she has betrayed him while Margot insists that she is still hungry and demands a cheeseburger. She saw the picture of the dish in the chef’s cabin.

Margot implies that he can’t make traditional food and is only limited to fancy items. Chef gets the burger with a smile and Margot finds it delicious. Further, she indirectly requests him to let her go. Chef impressed by Margot’s ability to appreciate his art lets her escape the island. Later, the staff burns down the restaurant and chooses to die along with the other guests.
