ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive preview of Kolchak: The Nightstalker, an upcoming audiobook of the novel that inspired the iconic television series.
What is Kolchak: The Night Stalker about?
The preview features a brief look at the beginning of Chapter 1, which introduces the book’s central mystery. The upcoming audiobook is based on The Kolchak Papers, an unpublished novel by author Jeff Rice that’s all about a reporter named Carl Kolchak, who tracks down a serial killer that turns out to be a vampire. The television series followed Kolchak as he investigated various supernatural mysterious.
The upcoming audiobook will be narrated by William Katt, who is best known for his starring role in the 1981 ABC series The Greatest American Hero. Katt also starred in a number of other projects, including Butch and Sundance: The Early Days, as well as starring in nine different Perry Mason movies.

Kolchak: The Night Stalker will release on February 11, 2025, via a partnership between Monsterous Books and Blackstone Audio. The novel will also be available as an ebook and trade paperback as part of award-winning editor and writer James Aquilone and Monstrous Books’ acquisition of the print rights to the novel.
The release of the book will also feature a new foreword by writer and actor David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil), as well as a new afterword by writer and producer Rodney Barnes (Killadelphia). The book will also feature a new essay on Jeff Rice by Kolchak expert Mark Dawidziak, and a cover by Russ Braun (The Boys).
“I always thought William Katt would make a great Carl Kolchak,” said James Aquilone, publisher of Monstrous Books and editor of the award-winning Kolchak: The Night Stalker 50th Anniversary graphic novel. “So when I had the opportunity to choose a narrator for Monstrous Books’ reprint of the original Kolchak: The Night Stalker novel, I knew I had to reach out to the star of one of my favorite shows as a kid, The Greatest American Hero.”
