Avatar: Fire and Ash Art Teases Massive Airborne and Water Battle

A new batch of Avatar: Fire and Ash art is out, teasing what a producer for the film calls a big battle that will take place across the air and sea.

What do we know about the new art for Avatar: Fire and Ash?

The new art comes courtesy of Empire Magazine, who shared concept art for the upcoming movie. In it, the RDA’s Factory Ship “what production designer Ben Procter describes as “essentially a moving oil platform that is designed to capture and process the tulkun on an industrial scale,” can be seen walking across the water, while aircrafts surround it.

Speaking to Empire, Procter teased the scene, saying that “we’re going to see an airborne and water-borne battle for the ages, as the Pandoran forces and RDA clash in a really interesting environment.”

According to Procter, it’s a sequence that he says puts the final battle of Avatar: The Way of Water to shame, and says makes it look like “nothing but a skirmish.”

Avatar: Fire and Ash is once again directed by Cameron, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The ensemble cast includes returning stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, and Joel David Moore, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass, Edie Falco, and more.

Cameron previously said that the upcoming sequel will explore “different cultures from those I have already shown. The fire will be represented by the ‘Ash People.’ I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, so far, I have only shown their good sides.”

“In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples,” he continued. “In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal.”
