Will Taylor Swift get deposed in Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively case?
Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, recently addressed the possibility of Taylor Swift being deposed in the lawsuit between Baldoni and his It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively. Speaking on the Two Angry Men podcast, Freedman stated that no decision had been made but did not rule out the possibility. He said, “I don’t know that we’re going to depose Taylor Swift or not. I think that that’s gonna be probably a game-time decision.”
He added that anyone with relevant information would likely be called to testify. Host Harvey Levin pressed Freedman on whether Lively’s legal team might try to prevent Swift from testifying. To this, Freedman responded that they might take actions “beyond the bounds of decency” in an attempt to avoid it.
Swift’s name has surfaced in the case through text messages included in Baldoni’s lawsuit. In one exchange, Baldoni referenced a discussion with Lively about the rooftop scene while Swift and Ryan Reynolds were allegedly present. Another text between Baldoni and a Sony executive mentions Lively reaching out to Swift to approve the use of My Tears Ricochet in the film. These connections have raised questions about whether Swift will be called as a witness.
The legal dispute began in December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni. The Gossip Girl actress alleged he created a hostile work environment and caused her emotional distress. Baldoni denied the allegations and countersued Lively, Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane, for defamation, civil extortion, and invasion of privacy. The trial is scheduled for March 2026.
