The Rock Replaced? Bloodline Star Calls Himself WWE’s ‘People’s Champion’

The Rock has long been known as WWE’s “People’s Champion,” but recently, a Bloodline member claimed that title for himself. Throughout his career, he has embraced several nicknames, including The Great One, The Brahma Bull, and The People’s Champion.

The People’s Champion last appeared on WWE NXT: New Year’s Evil, where he delivered a promo. The night before, The Rock kicked off WWE RAW’s Netflix premiere at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. His previous WWE appearance was at WWE Bad Blood in October, where he confronted Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, teasing a possible showdown with one of them.

Fans expected The Rock to confront Rhodes or Reigns at the Netflix premiere, but he surprised everyone with his actions. Despite his villainous Final Boss persona, he showed an unexpectedly softer side toward them.

Many speculated about a potential WWE WrestleMania 41 match, but those chances faded following his actions. Recently, reports revealed that The Rock was furious when news leaked about him not wrestling at this year’s WrestleMania.

In 2024, The Rock joined The Bloodline in WWE and debuted his Final Boss persona. Despite The Rock’s established title as the People’s Champion, 2025 Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso has now claimed that moniker for himself, seemingly taking on The Rock’s iconic title.

Jey Uso calls himself the new people’s champion in WWE

WWE Superstar Jey Uso recently sat down for an interview with former UFC champion Daniel Cormier. During the conversation, Jey was asked about the special connection wrestlers get to have with their fans.

The pro wrestler stated, “Man, I’m the man of the people now. I’m the new people’s champ now, or will be. But I do love the people, man, because I feel like they watched me rise up. They watched my whole story front of them.”

Jey Uso went on to talk about how he was “never supposed to be the top guy.” He said, “Mark Henry just said that on their podcast, man, that people chose Jey, that’s why it’s working for him. They’re not shoving anybody down anyone’s throat, man. They’re watching, they’re watching me work. I feel like they can resonate with that.”

As Jey Uso declares himself the new People’s Champion, it will be interesting to see if The Rock responds to these claims.
