The latest episode, titled “Keep Calm and Deliver the Biotoxin,” showcased the final moments of Booth’s journey on the show. Booth had set his sights on a GS-14 promotion, hoping to use it as a stepping stone to relocate to the U.S. and be closer to his daughter. Booth felt confident about securing the promotion when the bureau informed him that they would need to speak with his supervisor.
He believed they would be speaking to FBI SSA Wes Mitchell, his good friend, guaranteeing his promotion. However, the bureau reached out to Europol Agent Megan “Smitty” Garret instead. This put Booth in a difficult position, as Smitty knew about his past rule-breaking case. Later, Tyler talks to Smitty, who tells him that she has no option but to disclose the infamous information on his reference. Otherwise, it would put her job at risk.
However, he tries his best to convince her about having plans to live close to his daughter, but everything goes in vain. In response, Smitty decides to resign from her position to remove herself from the situation. However, Wes refuses to accept her resignation. To prevent Smitty from leaving, Booth makes a difficult choice; he withdraws from his promotion and relocates to the US. He receives an emotional farewell from the Fly team. Meanwhile, Smitty also arranges a reunion with her daughter back home.
