WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray Hits Back at AEW’s Jon Moxley in Explosive Response

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently had some strong words for AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. Moxley made a shocking return to television following AEW All In in August 2024, debuting a new gimmick that quickly caught fans’ attention.

Along with his new persona, Moxley appeared alongside Marina Shafir, hinting at a potential alliance. The group later expanded to include Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta, forming the faction known as the Death Riders.

Initially, the faction made a strong impact with their attack on Bryan Danielson, who has remained absent from AEW programming since the assault. Moxley also made statements about AEW needing to be “fixed,” sparking fan intrigue about the storyline’s direction.

However, months have passed with little development in the angle. The faction has continued attacking wrestlers without any major progression. Speculation also suggested that Shane McMahon might join the group, but nothing has come to fruition.

Speaking on Close-Up with Renee Paquette last week, Moxley detailed his mission in AEW and urged fans to “enjoy the ride.” He explained that he wanted to build a foundation that would ensure AEW’s longevity after he was gone. Moxley also admitted that AEW had changed from what he originally signed up for, prompting him to create something new.

However, Jon Moxley’s response did not sit well with WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray. He dismissed Moxley’s explanation and questioned whether fans should simply accept the narrative without criticism.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, WWE legend Bully Ray strongly reacted to Jon Moxley’s explanation regarding the Death Riders storyline. He questioned Moxley’s comments about AEW’s direction and whether the storyline was resonating with fans.

“Are we supposed to just sit back and not care if we don’t care about the Death Riders?” Bully said. “I’ve been doing this for a long time, a lot longer than Jon Moxley, and I’ll be damned if a f**ing CZW guy will ever be smarter than an ECW guy, and that’s a shot. Somebody explain to me what’s going on here.”*

He continued, “All I know is if you tell me to shut up and enjoy the ride, I need the ride to make sense just once,” Bully added. “People want to love you, Jon Moxley. Stop doing what you want to do—do what is best for the company. Get rid of this, stick up for the company. You need a monster heel to go after, and that’s the gospel.” [H/T: WrestlingInc]

Jon Moxley, who has been a fan-favorite babyface for most of his career, is now playing a very different role. With fans showing little interest in the storyline, it will be interesting to see how it develops moving forward.
