Super Bowl 2025 is about to begin, and Saquon Barkley has exciting news to share right before the tournament starts. The Philadelphia Eagles star shared in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that he and Anna Congdon are finally engaged.
The 27-year-old football player said, “I can’t be the athlete I am and have the success I have in my career without the help of her. She’s been super helpful and always has my back.” The athlete shared that Congdon has been a driving force in his life.
He further shared, “And it’s a beautiful thing because we have two amazing children. We just sit back and laugh sometimes when they’re over there playing and just smile and think about where everything started.”
Congdon and Barkley met in 2016 when he was a sophomore in college, and she was a freshman at Penn State (via PEOPLE). Like Barkley, Congdon also shared a passionate interest in sports. She played basketball for the Forest City women’s team. Congdon’s hard work as an athlete paid off, as she won the district championship title as a senior.
The duo attended a fraternity formal together in the same year. Barkley’s charm worked like magic on Congdon, who shared her experience on Instagram, writing: “He’s alright on the field, but you should see him on the dance floor.”
The two welcomed their their first child, Jada Clare Barkley, in April 2018. Congdon announced the birth of their first daughter with a sweet caption on Instagram, writing: “when two became three…” In September 2022, the couple welcomed their second child, Saquon Jr. That year, Barkley also finished his undergraduate degree from Penn State University.
