Sam Hunt, the country singer known for hit songs like “Body Like A Back Road” and “Take Your Time,” recently had a brush with the law after being arrested for speeding. This incident has shocked many of his fans who are now eager to learn the details and circumstances surrounding his arrest.

So why was Sam Hunt arrested? What happened to him and what did he do? Here are all the details that fans need to know about his recent arrest.

Why was Sam Hunt arrested?

Sam Hunt was arrested on Monday, January 20, 2025, on speeding charges and for violating an interlock device, a device used to prevent drunk driving also known as a breathalyzer. He was jailed in Henderson County, Tennessee.

TMZ first reported on the news and Hunt was released the same day after a $1500 bond was posted. Moreover, Hunt has also avoided charges. A speeding ticket was issued and is expected to be paid by Hunt.

This was not Hunt’s first arrest. The 40-year-old musician was arrested six years ago in 2019 for a DUI. He had been driving on the wrong side of the road, reportedly swerving in and out of lanes until authorities pulled him over. Hunt was reportedly found smelling of alcohol and with bloodshot eyes. Authorities also found two open and empty cans of beer. After taking a breathalyzer test, Hunt’s blood alcohol was found to be 0.173, which is more than the legal limit.

Hunt then appeared in court via a Zoom call in 2021, where he pled guilty. He was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in prison, but cut a plea deal, resulting in a sentence reduction to him attending 48 hours of a DUI education course. He subsequently apologized for the incident on social media.
