Tombstone: Who Is Lonnie Lincoln in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?

Viewers are eager to learn more about the comic origins of Lonnie Lincoln, voiced by Eugene Byrd in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. In the series, Lonnie is portrayed as a typical high school student who attends the same class as Peter Parker and leads a regular life. However, he is a supervillain called Tombstone, aka, Alonzo Lincoln in the comics. His character appears to be moving in a different direction in the series as it takes creative liberties and draws inspiration from comic books, tweaking some elements from his origin.

Here’s all you need to know about how the Lonnie in the MCU differs from comics.

Marvel’s Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man explained

During its initial episodes, the series introduces viewers to Lonnie Lincoln, an athlete and hard-working student, attending the same university as our beloved web-head. He juggles between his studies, sports, and familial responsibilities.

Channeling his hard-working and determined side, he excels at studies and as a quarterback keeps a good track record of winning. At first, he is perceived as Peter Parker’s rival to gain Pearl’s attention. However, soon, his good persona manages to win his heart as well.

Lonnie Lincoln’s current animated persona is way different from his comic counterpart, who was considered an outcast due to his albinism, a congenital disorder which alters one’s skin completely.

However, the show appears to have left the albinism part, showcasing him as a healthy and brilliant kid. In the comics, after being treated as an outcast, he leverages his unconventional appearance to channel his villain side, tormenting students as a bully in his early years.

Due to this, he soon receives the title of “Tombstone,” and growing up becomes a mob enforcer. Keeping up with his villainous side, he also starts working with several notorious figures like Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin, Dmitri Kravinoff, AKA Chameleon, and others.

Although he was a normal individual with a congenital disorder initially, he eventually gains powers, experiencing a mutagenic reaction once. He gains abnormal physical strength, unarmed combat skills, enhanced reflexes, stamina, durability, and much more.
