Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion 2 is moving forward at 20th Century Studios.
Released in 1997, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is a screwball comedy movie directed by David Mirkin. It starred Mira Sorvino as Romy White and Lisa Kudrow as Michele Weinberger.
There have been talks about making a sequel to the hit comedy movie for some time. Now, per The Hollywood Reporter, Sorvino and Kudrow are in negotiations to reprise their roles in a new Romy and Michele 2 movie. They will also serve as executive producers.
Who is directing Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion 2?
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion 2 will be directed by Tim Federle, who previously directed 2022’s Better Nate Than Never, which starred Kudrow in a supporting role. Federle also created the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series television show and wrote the screenplay for the animated 2017 movie Ferdinand.
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion 2 is potentially looking to begin production in June 2025 and may film in Los Angeles, though that has not yet been set in stone.
Plot details remain under wraps at this time.
The screenplay comes from Robin Schiff, who is involved with Netflix’s Emily in Paris series and also wrote the original. Laurence Mark and Barry Kemp are both attached to produce the project.
A release date for Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion 2 has not yet been announced.
