What happens in the Magazine Dreams trailer?
In the Magazine Dreams trailer, Majors’ character is obsessed with becoming a world-famous bodybuilder. In order to do so, Killian pushes himself to the absolute limit while he also gradually isolates himself from the rest of the world.
Along with Majors, Magazine Dreams stars Haley Bennett (Swallow, The Magnificent Seven), Taylour Paige (Zola, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F), Mike O’Hearn, Harrison Page, Harriet Sansom Harris, and more.
The screenplay was written by Bynum. Jennifer Fox, Dan Gilroy, Jeffrey Soros, and Simon Horsman produced the film, while Majors serves as an executive producer alongside Luke Rodgers and Andrew Blau.
Magazine Dreams premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. It was acquired by Searchlight Pictures, which is owned by Walt Disney Studios, the following month and a December 2023 release date was set; however, Disney removed the film from its release schedule in October 2023 after Majors was convicted of domestic assault.
Searchlight returned the film rights back to the filmmakers and, in October 2024, Briarcliff Entertainment acquired the domestic distribution rights to Magazine Dreams.
“Magazine Dreams is a visceral experience that challenges the perceptions of ambition and identity,” Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg said, via Entertainment Weekly. “Elijah’s film made a well-deserved splash in Sundance, and Briarcliff is looking forward to taking his story to the big screen across the country in early 2025.”
Magazine Dreams will now be released in United States theaters on March 21, 2025.
