George R. R. Martin recently interacted with fans through his blog, Not a Blog, in which he also shared his thoughts on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Set to release in late 2025, the series will focus on Ser Duncan and Aegon V Targaryen, who is popularly known as Egg. Martin mentioned in his blog that the Game of Thrones spin-off has wrapped its first season.

He wrote, “A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, for starts. It’s done. Ira (Ira Parker) and his team wrapped the first season months ago, and moved right on to post production.” Martin further disclosed that he has watched “all six episodes now (the last two in rough cuts, admittedly), and I loved them.” The author lauded the show’s lead actors, Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, who have been cast as Dunk and Egg respectively in the series and called them “incredible.”

Furthermore, Martin stated that Season 1 is based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg’s first part, The Hedge Knight. The later seasons will reportedly cover the other two parts, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight.

He addressed concerned fans and said, “It’s as faithful as adaptation as a reasonable man could hope for. Viewers who are looking for action, and more action, and only action… well, this one may not satisfy you.”
