Popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat recently revealed the reason behind why rapper Drake blocked him amid his beef with Kendrick Lamar. Cenat is considered to be one of the most popular streamers among the younger generation. In 2024, he reached a milestone as he met with Drake and got a chance to listen to his unreleased music.
Without further ado, here are all the details Cenat shared as to why Drake blocked him.
Why did Drake block Kai Cenat?
The renowned internet personality recently sat down for an interview and discussed his collaborations with several renowned celebrities.
When asked by Billboard to share his favorite memory as a streamer from 2024, Kai Cenat immediately stated it to be when Drake and Kendrick Lamar were going toe-to-toe and the “Hotline Bling” artist allegedly blocked him. In April 2024, Cenat was mentioned in one of Drake’s leaked diss tracks about Lamar, named “Push Ups (Drop and Give Me Fifty).”
Later on, in May, the rapper officially asked the streamer to play his other song “Family Matters” on his stream. This brought in an immense amount of viewers. However, per Billboard, this budding friendship was reportedly stained after Cenat labeled Drake’s “The Heart Part 6” weak, causing the latter to block him.
Talking about the Drake-Kendrick Lamar beef, Cenat said, “That was the most fun experience I’ve had. I’m not going to lie. We never experienced something like that. It was a good week. Everybody had their opinions. I was literally hopping on stream and had like 60,000 viewers. As soon as they dropped, my s–t was spiked to like 100,000.”
Furthermore, the streamer stated that in his view, Lamar emerged victorious in the beef with Drake, but didn’t specify whose side he was truly on. He added, “I’m cool with Drake. So people would expect me to be on Drake’s side. But I’m not going to lie. Kendrick won that battle. It was good. I loved every second of it.”
Kai Cenat also asserted that he was just “appreciating the moment” as both artists were dropping new music.
