Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has announced the Oh, the Places You’ll Go! release date for the upcoming animated musical movie. It is based on Dr. Seuss‘ 1990 children’s book of the same name, which serves as the iconic author’s final book before his death in 1991 at the age of 87.
When is the Oh, the Places You’ll Go! release date?
Oh, the Places You’ll Go is scheduled to make its theatrical debut on March 17, 2028, in IMAX. At the moment, the film has no direct competition at the box office. The film is co-directed by Jon M. Chu and Jill Culton from a screenplay penned by Rob Lieber. It is produced by J.J. Abrams for Bad Robot and Greg Taylor, with EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul providing original songs. The project currently has no official voice cast attached to it yet.
The novel‘s official synopsis reads: “From soaring to high heights and seeing great sights to being left in a Lurch on a prickle-ly perch, Dr. Seuss addresses life’s ups and downs with his trademark humorous verse and whimsical illustrations. The inspiring and timeless message encourages readers to find the success that lies within, no matter what challenges they face. A perennial favorite and a perfect gift for anyone starting a new phase in their life!”
This marks director Jon M. Chu’s latest musical project, following the success of the Wicked movie. The adaptation had just received ten Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress. Besides the Dr. Seuss movie, Chu is also currently working on the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
