Children of Blood and Bone Cast: Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo & More Join Fantasy Movie

Paramount Pictures has finally announced the main cast of its upcoming film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, based on the 2018 best-selling coming-of-age fantasy novel written by Tomi Adeyemi. The film is scheduled to make its debut in theaters on January 15, 2027 in IMAX.

“In an African fantasy kingdom, a young woman goes on a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from her people. She and her brother ally with the daughter and son of the king to fight back against his brutal rule,” reads the official synopsis.

Who is in the Children of Blood and Bone cast?

Leading the Children of Blood and Bone movie are Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King) as Zelie, Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) as Amari, Damson Idris (Snowfall) as Inan, and Tosin Cole (Supacell) as Tzain. The action fantasy will also star acclaimed actors Viola Davis (The Woman King) as Mama Agba, Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) as Admiral Kaea, Idris Elba (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) as Lekan, Lashana Lynch (Bob Marley: One Love) as Jumoke, and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) as King Saran.

The film centers around a young girl who will help restore magic to her kingdom. It will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King), who co-wrote the screenplay with Adeyemi. It is executive produced by Adeyemi, Matt Jackson, and Reggie Rock Bythewood, with Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and Karen Rosenfelt producing.

In addition, Oscar winner Regina King is currently in negotiations to join the cast, along with Diaana Babnicova, and Bukky Bakray. Should their casting get finalized, King, Babnicova, and Bakray would portray the respective roles of Queen Nehanda, Folake, and Binta. Production is expected to begin in South Africa in the coming weeks.
