How did Iowa Cheerleader get injured?

During a tense moment in the men’s basketball game between the University of Iowa and Minnesota on Tuesday, a cheerleader from Iowa suffered a frightening injury while performing a tumbling pass. The incident occurred during a timeout with 2:42 left in the second half. The cheerleader lost his footing mid-routine, resulting in an awkward fall where he landed heavily on his neck, hitting the floor with force. The accident prompted immediate action from medical personnel, who rushed to the scene to assist him.

While the cheerleader was on the ground, medical staff carefully secured his neck. He was seen nodding in response to their questions. He was conscious and able to move his arms and hands, which was reassuring. After being treated, the cheerleader was taken off the court on a stretcher.

The fall caused a delay of around 10 minutes in the game while the cheerleader received medical attention. The game resumed once he was safely removed from the court, with Iowa trailing Minnesota by 16 points. However, despite the setback, Iowa made a strong comeback, closing the gap to just three points with 30 seconds left. In the end, the Hawkeyes fell short, losing 72-67.

Iowa’s head coach, Fran McCaffery, expressed concern for the injured cheerleader. He said, “Thoughts and prayers to the young guy who comes to support our players and our coaches. Obviously, he suffered a serious injury and we’re all thinking about him.” (via Hawk Central)

As of the game’s conclusion, there were no immediate updates on his condition from the Iowa Sports Information Department.
