Matty Healy Responds to Next Album Being About Taylor Swift

Matty Healy, lead singer of The 1975, has stirred up a storm after addressing rumors that the band’s upcoming album might include songs inspired by his brief romance with Taylor Swift. Responding to a report from The Sun about alleged lyrics referencing Swift, Healy made a comment on a Reddit thread. Now, fans are speculating about whether their short-lived relationship will feature in his new music.

Here is what Healy said.

Is Matty Healy writing songs about Taylor Swift?

Matty Healy has sparked fresh speculation that his upcoming album may delve into his short-lived romance with Taylor Swift. The buzz began after The Sun reported that one of the songs includes the line, “Keep your head up, princess, your tiara is falling,” sparking speculation about its connection to Swift.

Healy added fuel to the rumors when he commented, “Huge if true,” on a Reddit thread discussing the report, using his verified account to engage with fans. This cryptic remark does not confirm anything. However, it has left followers wondering if the singer will indeed address his 2023 relationship with Swift through his music.

Their brief romance, which lasted two months in 2023, followed Swift’s breakup with actor Joe Alwyn. During their time together, Healy made appearances on Swift’s Eras Tour and even joined her onstage at a concert in London. Despite their connection, US Magazine later confirmed that the relationship was never serious. As per the insider, “Taylor and Matt are no longer romantically involved. They had fun together, but it was never serious.”

Swift’s 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, has been rumored to feature subtle jabs at Healy. Meanwhile, sources suggest The 1975’s next album might do the same in reverse. Now, Healy has moved on and is engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel, while Swift is dating NFL star Travis Kelce.

Whether or not Healy’s new lyrics reference Swift, his cryptic response has only heightened anticipation for The 1975’s next release.
