A surprising backstage update has surfaced regarding WWE commentator Corey Graves following his recent outburst. A few days ago, Corey Graves expressed his frustration over changes to his WWE commentary role.
WWE made adjustments to the commentary teams for RAW, SmackDown, and NXT ahead of their Netflix premieres. Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett, who previously worked on RAW, were moved to SmackDown.
Pat McAfee returned to join Michael Cole as part of the WWE RAW commentary team, while Vic Joseph and Booker T will team up with Corey Graves on WWE NXT. Graves, who was once part of SmackDown, will now be on NXT.
In response to these changes, Graves vented his frustration on X( formerly Twitter). He expressed disappointment at being told he wasn’t famous enough to keep his position.
However, following the post, reports emerged that Graves had been removed from the show and was spotted leaving from Orlando. Later, fans also noticed that he had deleted his post about the situation. Recent reports now suggest that Graves might be attempting to get fired after his recent actions.
Report: WWE backstage reactions suggest Corey Graves wants to leave
Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer discussed Corey Graves’ situation on the Wrestling Observer Radio podcast. Meltzer explained that a couple of weeks ago, Graves learned that Wade Barrett would replace him on the commentary team on SmackDown, and Graves was not pleased.
He questioned why Graves would take to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration, noting that some people within WWE believe Graves may have been trying to get fired. He stated, “There’s people there who think that he was trying to get fired and that’s why he did it. If he was trying to get fired, they probably aren’t gonna fire him, because I don’t think they want him going to AEW if they give him a release. They could also suspend him, which maybe they’ve done for all we know. It doesn’t have to be announced that they’ve suspended him.”
While it remains unclear whether Graves has been suspended or fired by WWE for his recent outburst, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray and former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman recently offered advice to Graves regarding the situation.
