Judge Richard Bloom accepted Megan the Stalion’s request for a restraining order against Tory Lanez in Los Angeles yesterday. The order will last until January 9, 2030. It demands Lanez not to harass, intimidate, or threaten Megan Thee Stallion in any way.

Notably, In August 2023, Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment after shooting Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, in the feet in 2020. He will continue to be incarcerated even after the restraining order ends.

It was claimed in Megan Thee Stallion’s filing that Lanez was a “violent and dangerous criminal” who had an “established pattern of behavior” that underscored “the reasons this civil harassment restraining order is necessary to protect Ms. Pete and her wellbeing.” (via NBC News)

Megan Thee Stallion appeared in court via a video call on Thursday. She stated that she had been suffering from anxiety since the shooting incident. The rapper also claimed that Lanez had been paying people to harass her.

She stated that she is afraid that when Lanez gets released from prison, he will still be upset with her and that she was unsure whether he would remain violent. “Because even from behind bars, he keeps showing me that he can get to me. Like, he won’t give me a day of peace,” Megan added. “I feel like when he gets out of jail, it’s going to be worse. … I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time, I won’t make it.” (via Rolling Stone)

Lanez’s attorney argued that the restraining order was unfair and unwarranted. However, Judge Bloom noted that a violent act such as the shooting incident has a ripple effect that “continues on.” The judge went on to say that Megan Thee Stallion’s testimony showed that the ripple was “significant.”
